How do you build a website on which visitors add knowledge themselves and correct existing knowledge?

By simply doing it. And by leaving out all the frills and focusing on what really matters: content. Gebiedseconomie is about the economy of specific geographic areas — a niche theme with a lot of knowledge spread over many people. The third version of their website had to bring that knowledge together and make it accessible to everyone.

What was the problem?

The earlier versions of the site were too busy, too complex and too little focused on the core: knowledge sharing. Gebiedseconomie wanted a platform on which visitors can post articles themselves and improve existing articles. A wiki, in other words — but one that looks good and is pleasant to read.

What did ZAAKS! do?

We built the third version of the site in Umbraco: all frills removed, maximum focus on content. Visitors can publish their own articles and make corrections to existing content. The platform is easy to manage and inviting for people who want to contribute knowledge.

What does it deliver?

A living knowledge platform about area economics that grows through the contributions of the community itself. The more people contribute, the more valuable it becomes.
