Sounds dry. It isn't. The Dutch government and the EU have significantly tightened the rules for packaging data — PPWR, EPR, tariff differentiation 2.0 — and many companies have no idea what that means for them. Or worse: they pay more than they need to, because their administration is not in order. Packstract solves that. And we build the platform that makes it possible.
Packaging data is fragmented, complex and time-consuming to keep up to date. Producers have to report per material type, per product and per market — with increasingly strict requirements. Manually in Excel? That simply no longer works for the volumes and deadlines that companies have to deal with. Packstract needed a smart, AI-driven system that manages the data, does the calculations and creates the reporting automatically.
We helped build on two fronts at once: the AI platform and the website. The platform processes packaging data via document parsing and Excel imports, splits bills of materials per material type, calculates the expected levy and generates the Verpact report at the push of a button. Via an API, the system connects to existing ERP and PIM environments. Everything stored in European data centres — 100% GDPR-proof.
The website is built in Umbraco. Clear, informative, findable. And the CMS has already been migrated to V17; the new house style is coming soon.
Packstract customers always have up-to-date, correct packaging data at the ready. The chance of errors and additional assessments drops drastically. Tariff discounts are automatically calculated and claimed — without the customer having to keep track of the rules themselves.
