How do you build and manage the digital infrastructure of a school community with 20+ schools?

You don't do that in one go. You do it together, over a longer period, with an agency that truly knows the organisation.

ZAAKS! has been SARO's regular Umbraco partner for years — one of the largest school communities in Rotterdam. By now we have built almost everything at least once: from the overarching organisation website to the individual school sites, from helpdesk portals to AI service agents.

What was the challenge?

A school community with 20+ schools has complex digital needs. Every school wants its own identity and its own editors. The IT department wants central control, minimal vulnerability and maximum efficiency. And the organisation grows and changes — mergers, new schools, new services. The digital infrastructure has to be able to handle all of that.

What did ZAAKS! do?

Over the years, ZAAKS! built up the complete SARO digital infrastructure in Umbraco. A selection of what we have delivered:

-25 + individual websites
Migration from Umbraco 8 to 13 — without downtime, all content intact, 18 schools at once
Migration from Umbraco V13 to V17 - 8 schools so far
New school websites for Toorop Mavo, Zuiderpark College, NEXT Campus Rotterdam, among others
ICT Helpdesk portal — in Umbraco 16, live in record time..1 day!
AI service agents — 5 pilot schools live, 15 in November 2026. The next 20 digital colleagues in March 2027.

Every school has its own face, its own editors and its own content. Technically, everything runs on one modern, centrally managed infrastructure.
