Not with long texts and boring blocks of information. With video, quizzes, polls and interactive explainers — made for children, not for adults who think they know what children enjoy. Wijrollenkids.nl is the children's version of Wijrollen.nl, the community platform of HandicapNL. Same technical foundation, very different character.
What was the problem?
Children living with a disability deserve a place of their own — not a simplified version of the adult site. The content has to match how children process information: visual, interactive, short and fun. That is a different design challenge from a regular information website.
What did ZAAKS! do?
We built Wijrollenkids.nl within the same Umbraco CMS as the big Wijrollen.nl — handy for management — but with a completely separate design, its own navigation structure and its own content types. Videos, quizzes, polls and interactive explainers are the core of the site, not an afterthought. Technically simple, but in terms of design a really different story.
What does it deliver?
Children living with a wheelchair or mobility scooter find a place on Wijrollenkids.nl that is truly made for them. Recognisable, fun and accessible. And for HandicapNL it is easy to manage from the same CMS as the big site.
