How do you give a school its own face in a multi-site?

That is exactly the challenge with a large school community like SARO. Zuiderpark College is a school with its own character, its own pupils and its own story. But technically it is part of a larger multisite with 14+ schools. And it has to stay that way — because central manageability and security are not a luxury, but a necessity.

What was the problem?

SARO manages all school websites from a single Umbraco multisite. Every school wants its own colour, its own content and its own content manager. At the same time, the IT department does not want to go through 15 different CMS environments for every small change. How do you solve that?

What did ZAAKS! do?

We built the Zuiderpark College website as a full-fledged subsite within the SARO multisite. The school has its own house style, its own navigation and its own editors — but shares the technical foundation, the security updates and the CMS with the rest of the school community. One system, many faces. That's how it should be.
